Fake Hen Night

That thing called my sister came up to stay so I threw her a fake hen night. A group of us went out with fake L Plates on. I sat there for hours colouring in L's with permanent red marker and attaching string. I gave everyone a name and in an attempt to make it as cheesy as possible, I wrote ridiculous song lyrics on the back, generally containing some sort of innuendo. (sp?) I was Dane Bowers.

Observations

This is a photograph of a page from my latest scrap book. It is about my Grandpa Bruce aka Gramps.
The text says: "This is my Grandpa Bruce. I actually love him but he fell out with me because I like socialism. He doesn't really get jokes. He is 80 years old and had a party. There was strippers and flamingos serving absinthe. He is a nutter."
Obviously flamingos didn't serve absinthe. And there wasn't a single stripper in sight. It would just be hilarious if that was truth.

This is another page. It's about my dislike for Ugg boots and leggings. I don't understand why people wear ugg boots in the rain as 'practical footwear'. They are fabric.

This is a photograph I took when I must have been about 11. I miss disposable cameras. I love it how people think children are stupid enough to use a rock as a mobile phone!

Storying Sheffield

Storying Sheffield is potentially the best learning I have EVER done. We are working with residents from Sheffield who have not been to university and may not have had the chance to go. Students are working with these residents to produce stories, artifacts, pieces of art, film, recordings and so much more. This course is like no other in the country that I have heard of. There is so much beauty in it. 2 groups of people that would never meet have joined to make this fantastic team. University students have approached this course with such sensitivty and maturity. These people that we are working with are fascinating and have opened the students eyes wide. It has so much personality. And the beauty lies within the way we are working together, the home made feel of what we are producing, the love, care, and time that has gone into everything. What I have personally gained from it is so valuable. I am allowed to think creativly and without limitations. I am not judged for the strange way my brain works but instead encouraged. I have learnt so much about the way I work individually and with others. I have never enjoyed learning this much. It challenges me. I have also met the most interesting tutor I have ever come into contact with in all my years of education. A tutor that has the power to hold my attention and make me feel supported.
Above is some felt letters that I stuck to a piece of card. This took me ages because I kept getting the letters stuck to myself. I have now mastered the art of felt letters and super strong glue.
Below is a logo that I have made on my best friend 'Illustrator'. It needs touching up but I feel it represents the course.
We are having an exhibition of all the work.
I am helping to oversee the organisation and sorting out of the exhibition. I have been given the chance to exercise my skills like organising a group of people, delegating roles, etc as well as submitting some of my work and things. This project is so exciting. It makes me buzz.

Brackles

Above is a photograh of Brackles that I took at Big Chill. I think it is mint
Below is a picture of the crowd during Ramadanman and Brackles' set. You can spot some of my friends.

Nigel B.I.G

For Nigel's birthday I wanted to get a t-shirt with his face printed on it but ran out of time. Instead I made a medallion with his face on and attached it to a chain. I made different people wear it at different points throughout the night and took pictures of them wearing it. Initially it freaked Nigel out a bit. He now thanks me for doing it.

Nigel Medallions are not for sale but can be costumed made.

This is a photograph that I took at Big Chill of my best friend Nigel. He is really great. We have done a radio show on Tuesday nights together for the past year and a bit. We talk all sorts of stuff, mainly electronic music. We once had a 20 minute conversation about what seagull would taste like. And on Tuesday we talked for ages about the possibilty of chasing the end of a rainbow and fighting with Leprachaun's for the pot of gold.
